2010 Barbeque
Festival Pageant
The 2010 Barbeque Festival Pageant will be held Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 2:00p.m. This pageant will be open to all qualifying girls ages 0-18 years old. Queen in the 16-18 year old division will receive a $250 scholarship. Early registration is $30 and is due by Friday, September 17, 2010; after that date the registration will be $35. Ages 0-9 will be Sunday Dress ONLY and ages 10-18 will be pageant attire. Admission at the door will be $5. The pageant is being sponsored by the Taylorsville Chamber of Commerce. Robert Dale Stringer of the Town of Taylorsvlle has earned the 2009 Jim McDonald Award for Outstanding Waterworks Operator of the Year presented by the Mississippi Water and Pollution Control Operator's Association. MWPCOA President Kenneth Herring presented the award at the Association’s Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, MS on July 22.
Stringer has been employed by the Town of Taylorsville for 32 years. When presented the award, Stringer said, “I would like to thank Mayor Rosalyn Glenn, the Board Members and all the employees with the Town. Everyone played a part in this award and I thank them. This is truly a great honor to be chosen by your peers. Thank you to everyone.”

Taylorsville Chamber held its regular meeting on August 9, at the Taylorsville Florist. Discussion was about fine-tuning plans for the Christmas Parade, and the Grillin' and Chillin' BBQ Fest to be held on November 6, 2010 in Taylorsville Town Park.
Join us... We'll be Grillin' and Chillin' in the Fall. Next meeting September 13, 5:00 pm at the Police Station.
